Source: Omny.FM
HappySoaps once started with a simple mission: to ban all shower plastic. But how do you build a successful business model on that and deal with the struggles of a young and growing company?
This episode in short:
☑️ How to build☑️ a sustainable brand with a small company Why 175 products can be too much for a young company☑️ Solaq makes water... of air!
HappySoaps arose from a frustration about plastic waste in the bathroom. With soap bars and other care products, the founders proved that things can be done differently: locally produced, sustainable and with a touch of humor in communication. The products are now on various Dutch store shelves and at the Belgian Delhaize. Yet the growth did not go without a struggle. Too many products and too little focus have caused internal hassle in recent years. This made the range unclear for customers.

On top of that, co-founder Marco chose to take a different path, which changed the dynamics in the company considerably. This forced Marcel Koers, the other founder, to make sharp choices: back to simplicity, clear priorities and refocusing on the mission. It was a hard lesson, but also a tipping point that should lay the foundation for further growth. In this episode, Koers talks candidly about pioneering, making mistakes and how to keep direction when your partner leaves the company. You will also discover what it takes to break through in the supermarket with a sustainable brand.
